Cloud firewall or WordPress plugin

Where the firewall runs decides what it can protect and what you change to use it.

Where each vendor's firewall runs, and what that means
FirewallVendors hereWhat it means
Cloud
Sucuri, Cloudflare, SiteLock
Traffic reaches the vendor’s network first, which filters it and serves cached pages before your server sees a request; it works for any site, once the domain is routed through it.
WordPress plugin
Wordfence, MalCare, Jetpack
Runs inside WordPress on your own server: nothing changes in how traffic reaches you, and it protects WordPress only.
Inside the site
Patchstack
Rules for known vulnerabilities run inside the site’s own code, applied only where the site runs the vulnerable software.
How we read these prices (7 vendors)

Each price is the vendor’s own, in US dollars, read from its pricing page by StackRates on 4 Nov 2026, 01:33 to 01:40 UTC. A year is the cheapest way the page sells twelve months: a monthly price billed yearly or monthly is counted twelve times, a yearly price as printed. A clean-up time is the vendor’s own figure, which most of them call a target. Taxes, coupons and multi-year discounts are left out. Check the vendor’s page before you buy.

  • Sucuri. sucuri.net, read 4 Nov 2026, 01:33 UTC. Sucuri's own hacked-site page (sucuri.net/website-security-platform/immediate-help/, read 01:37 UTC) still says $499.99 a year for the 6-hour plan; the signup page, where the plans are bought, says $549, and this ledger uses it. Sucuri calls each clean-up time an estimate that depends on the case and its ticket queue; its FAQ says 90% of Basic tickets are resolved within 24 hours, Pro within 12 and Business within 6. The page offers up to 30% off for more than one year paid up front, without a price for it; each row is one year.
  • Cloudflare. cloudflare.com, read 4 Nov 2026, 01:33 UTC. Cloudflare's plans page lists no malware scan or clean-up on any plan; every plan, Free included, carries the WAF with Cloudflare's free managed ruleset, the CDN, unmetered DDoS protection and a Universal SSL certificate.
  • Wordfence. wordfence.com, read 4 Nov 2026, 01:36 UTC. Wordfence's page answers a plain read with an empty page (HTTP 202), so it was read in a browser. Each Wordfence licence covers one site; Care and Response say what they clean in Wordfence's Services Subscription Agreement. Support hours are 9am to 8pm ET on weekdays, except Response, which runs 24/7 with a 1-hour response and a 24-hour time to resolution.
  • SiteLock. sitelock.com, read 4 Nov 2026, 01:33 UTC. SiteLock's expert clean-up (SiteLock 911) comes with the Pro and Business plans only when they are paid yearly; paid monthly, their removal is automatic only. The page does not say how many 911 clean-ups a year includes. The yearly prices are the page's own yearly figures ("2 months free when paying annually"); the month-to-month price is in each row.
  • MalCare. malcare.com, read 4 Nov 2026, 01:33 UTC. MalCare prints USD and applies local prices and offers at checkout. Plans are billed yearly and renew automatically each year; the page gives no different renewal price. Refunds within 14 days, except after MalCare has already cleaned the site.
  • Jetpack. jetpack.com and its USD price list, read 4 Nov 2026, 01:40 UTC. jetpack.com/pricing shows each visitor a local price (rupees, read from India), so the dollar prices are read from Jetpack's own USD product price list at public-api.wordpress.com. That list carries no first-year discount for Pro or Complete. Jetpack says its scan is not built to clean a site that was infected before Jetpack was installed.
  • Patchstack. patchstack.com, read 4 Nov 2026, 01:33 UTC. Patchstack sells to people who run many sites: its Developer plan covers 25 sites, and single sites get it through partner web hosts. It mitigates known vulnerabilities and does not scan for malware or clean a hacked site; for that it points to your host or a professional.
